About BASIC
BASIC is a non-profit, non-political voluntary development organization, established on 17th January 2006 and working since its inception. It has been implementing integrated development projects/programs with the poorer section of the community, with particular focus on addressing the rights of Indigenous children and women to bring positive change in their livelihood. Over time, BASIC has gained experience and capacity by working on various development issues with technical and financial support from multifarious donors. It has achieved significant institutional competency to implement larger initiatives for achieving development objectives.
BASIC has a team of 38 staff and volunteers who are well qualified and experienced in project implementation such as disability surveys, Disabled Child School, non-formal education, community women health services, nutrition, livelihood, vulnerable group development & empowerment. The organization has so far involved over 9,660 people through development initiatives presently being implemented.
BASIC has experience in implementing income generation activities through off-farm and agro-based technology transfer, including agriculture, fisheries, forestry, livestock, and home-based IGAs operated by women. It has been working for women empowerment by involving them in different income-earning activities and linking them with microfinance for startup capital. BASIC also has long experience in building institutional capacity development of rural and Indigenous community people to address social issues through collective efforts. Participatory approaches are followed to identify issues and implement action-oriented programs to address these issues that hinder development.
BASIC strongly believes in the target population concept for its development efforts, focusing on destitute and disadvantaged poor with emphasis on children and women. The organization follows regular monitoring, feedback, sharing experiences, and immediate action for successful project implementation. It is dedicated to fostering qualitative and quantitative improvement in the living standards of its beneficiaries.
BASIC has a policy to work in areas where people are comparatively more vulnerable. Its programs are specially targeted to ensure support for establishing the rights of women, adolescent girls, and children to remove social injustice and bring a society free from discrimination.
Vision
BASIC aims to empower its target beneficiaries through education, training, and development approaches ensuring social and economic development, free from injustice and discrimination. It envisions a society where children, women, and men live with dignity and are capable of removing sufferings on their own. Our long-term vision is to provide children with a pollution-free, hunger-free, and poverty-free environment for the community.
Mission
The mission of BASIC is guided by providing technical and financial support enabling target beneficiaries through their active participation (men, women, and children) in various development programs to generate income and employment opportunities for sustainable development and improved livelihood standards. It also focuses on building community-based institutions to address social issues that directly or indirectly hinder the process of development.
